I started this web site as a means of organizing the Lewis letter materials in a logical way to make them more easily accessible.
Original copies of the letters are irregularly scattered across the country in libraries, genealogical societies and museums, rarely in a complete collection of all volumes. Some of them are available online, including a large but incomplete collection at https://freepages.rootsweb.com/~lewisiana/genealogy/ a Rootsweb site that is at risk of being lost as Rootsweb has drastically restricted it web pages. I found some volumes available on the Internet Archive website, in various states of legibility, which managed to fill in the holes in the Rootsweb web page. There is no comprehensive index in the Lewis Letter publications, so I am building a cross referenced index of books and the volumes in which they appear. This work is still in progress andI will post here when it is completed. The Contact page on this web site is now active, so please use it to contact me if you have questions, problems, additions or deletions. Michael Alan Lewis
